Michael Reese Meyers and Scarlett have broken up. Both their reps have confirmed that the two, who dated for about 6 months, have called it quits. Things seemed fine just as recent as this past Valentine's Day which was just a few days ago as Meyers tweeted/Facebooked photos of the pair out to dinner. Apparently all wasn't fine. Meyers also posted a comment days later saying "Ugh. Actresses. I swear to God you are all fucked in the head".
The pair met on the set of their 2005 film "Desire" but according to Meyers, did not get along at all. He and her never became friends until 2012 when she told him she was a fan of his band Chants of Reign. They began dating officially in the fall of 2013.
UPDATED: Many rumors have swirled as to what caused the breakup. There are two that seem to be the most common. The first: Meyers asked her to marry him and she said no. An unnamed source claiming to be a friend of Johansson's says Meyers proposed over Valentine's and it "freaked her (Scarlett) out". It would not be the first time Meyers has proposed to a girlfriend. He proposed to first girlfriend Kristen Bell in Thanksgiving 2004 (and she said yes, but the couple ended up not marrying after deciding they were too young and instead, broke up the following June of 2005) and in 2009 during Christmas he proposed to then rumored girlfriend and The Believers co-star Naomi De La Fuente but she said no. The second rumor: When Scarlett showed up to Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier press conferences and premieres with a cast on her left wrist many suspected Meyers caused some sort of injury to her. Scarlett said on twitter she injured herself snowboarding.
