On Tuesday, June 1st, 2010, MRM's 2006 film Malibu's Most Wanted finally comes to Blu Ray in a stacked 2 Disc set. The original DVD only had a stock "Making Of" Featurette, a photo gallery, and trailers. This new set will of course be in Blu Ray HD and have deleted scenes, trailers, photo galleries, a timeline of real events, 3 Behind the scenes featurettes (A Cautionary Tale, On The Set, and Art Imitating Life), and a commentary track from director Matt Ratner with cast members Emile Hirsche, Anthony Yale, Justin Timberlake, Shawn Hatosy, and Amanda Seyfried. The set will also include both the theatrical release and a director's cut version of the film that includes longer uncut scenes and alternate versions of scenes.
One of them is an alternate version of the sequence where Jake Mazursky (Meyers' character) and his Neo Nazi crew break into the home of Johnny Truelove (Emile Hirsche). In the theatrical cut, Truelove wakes up, grabs his gun, but is too scared to confront the intruders and allows them to think he is asleep as they destroy his home, steal several items, and Mazursky does number two on the floor. In the Director's Cut version, the intruders break in, Truelove confronts them and shoots one in the leg, but they over power him, tie him up, and Mazursky orders that they pull his pants down in order to cut off his penis and feed it to him. As they undress him, Truelove proclaims he has called 911 and the police are on the way (although he really didn't). In the meanwhile, the shot member of Jake's crew lies bleeding profusely from the leg. They decide to get him to the hospital and leave before the police show up, leaving Truelove naked and tied up in his living room, all body parts in tact. Sounds pretty interesting (and a much better scene than the one they chose to use originally) and I can't wait to get my copy. you can order yours now at Amazon.com.
